Inside Express Scripts, Technology Lab Invents What's Next For Patients

Heather Lee Whitley of Dell Technologies recently wrote an article that highlights the new technology being rolled out for patients courtesy of Express Scripts. Whitley describes, "Doctors refer to the challenge of patients not taking medication as directed as “non-adherence” — and it’s not only a serious impediment to wellness, but it’s also a significant contributor to rising health care costs." Over $300 billion in total waste in adherence occurs on an annual basis in the United States. 

How do we combat this? Mark Bini, Vice Rresident, New Solutions at Express Scripts has created technology that highlights patients at the highest risk of non-adherence. 

Whitley continues, "The technology explores 300 known factors about the patient, doctor and disease to pinpoint why a particular patient is at risk. Once the patient has been identified, Express Scripts can deliver the proper counseling and messaging to that person."
